I just feel fortunate to be able to live here on the bayou I don't care what I catch. Got my flatbottom and kayak If I want to venture out anywhere else.
Give me a shout sometime. I'll show you around the bay
I grew up fishing Chocolate, but I'll take any help I can get. Use to have a cabin next to what I call coon gulley. First big bay to the right after the bridge. Flood of 79 got it though. All that's left are the pilings. Spent many a night fishing the lights off Amoco docks and the bubble barrier. Took a few years off to fish offshore only and to play with some classic car building. Had an Uncle move to Rockport, so I spent the last 10 years fishing down there with him. Just got back into fishing Chocolate again about 3 years ago.

Don't know about that. Things have changed a lot since I spent any time out there. Use to be able to tell where all the shell reefs were. Having to hunt and peck my way around again. I googled all the Aeriel photos I could just to refresh my memory of where everything was at. Although I did come home from San Luis pass, going thru Bastrop bayou and the intracoastal back to 2004 bridge one night using only a flashlight in a 16'walk thru windshield and a 60hp Chrysler outboard. Almost impossible to find the channel marker reflectors at night with the lights from the chemical plants in you eyes. That was back in the early 80's. I swore I'd never get in that situation ever again.
I really would like to meet some of you guys that frequent the Chocolate forum here. My problem is running a business in Alvin that I'm here 6 days a week. That leaves me after 3pm on Saturday and all day Sunday for socializing and fishing. And that's if the wife doesn't have any honey-do's for me. Do ya have a once a month meeting with a secret handshake I can join?
Lmao. A buddy used to run me around that chocolate, bastrop, Christmas area. Wish i 'd paid more attention but I was a rider. If you see a dude with long hair in a classic 15-5 whaler, up that bayou, wave me in. Just a handshake, nothing secret.
Basically Chocolate and Rockport fish the same, But the hooks cost more in Rockport.
Especially at Tackle Town.
Are you talking about Wendell's Tool rental? The place that has everything for the do-it-yourselfer - From Spring housecleaning to moving cross country? That place has loyally been serving Alvin and the surrounding areas for about 50 years if it is the place I'm thinking of... is it located at 375 East Hwy 6? Anyways, be careful bringing that up. You don't want to come across like a commercial. They'll let you know lol.

Dang, my secrets out. 50 Years, no wonder I'm starting to ache and make funny noises where I didn't use to.
