Back in, washed up, and easing into a nice nap. Got to Lutes before 6 this morning and bought their next to last "Pint".Cody said the tournament took the rest but more is on way. The water was beautiful and extremely clear. however by 0730hrs the wind picked up and the chop came outa no where. Fished until 0915hrs and came in. 1 keeper trout but returned and several small ones, along with some huge croakers, 1 legal Black Drum, several small ones, TR's, no reds at all, and the best were the lady fish! They made my morning !Took time to toss some Gulps which normally I do not do as I prefer Live. They rewarded me with 2 trout and my best croaker! Also tried some #1 Circle hooks by "Owner". At least none of the specs spit or drew blood as they always mostly do with Trebles. My opinion is still not made up on how well they do hook and hold. Guess the 'jerking" is what I really miss to set the hook. I've been a jerker from way back!! hehehe. On way in, passed a Yaker pedaling and slowed to prevent swamping him. Met him at the Lutes dock and he was give out. Wind wore him down. This morning was his 1st visit to Choc and he seemed well pleased. No keepers but he said he had a ball. To come all the way from Spring to fish in a strange new place, called for admiration and good words to him as a great sportsman. Pray you made it back Jimmy!!

Great post. I know what you mean; Spring is quite a drive for a mornings yak trip.

This...I haven't had my boat out in a month due to work and now we've neared the halfway point with a kitchen remodel and to top it off...the water well is down! I'd die to have a report like yours.

Chocolate bayou has been on fire the last couple weeks! It's a wonder more people aren't coming from great distances to bask in its glory.

Mosquitoes are terrible in halls bayou though. So thick you can inhale them thru a buff headgear worn across your face. Don't waste your time in halls. Go to chocolate.

Agreed. There aren't any decent fish in Hall's anyway. Everybody ought to fish Chocolate as I heard there are some real monster Trout being caught down there. Just ask Dbarham!

The only trout being caught in Chocolate now are tourist trout.

Last several kayak trips to chocolate got us both limits on reds before 730am. All within paddling distance from 2004. Only thing in Halls is skeeters and gators.
