Went to Lutes early this morning and got almost their last pint of the best size shrimp you could imagine. A gentlemen behind me probably ended up with the last quart so we were both energized and happy. Chatted with Mr Cody for a brief time and right when I walked out Barbara showed up and he went on to work. I love that family and they are so wonderful to talk and visit with and I love trading doin business with them. On the ride out to my favorite fish dominium between Green Buoys 45 and 43 where the sun wasn't in a contest with the polarized glasses I noticed the Weisach tress close to Ascends docks in the bends, are almost finished with their blooming. My spelling is bad as I went to school in Alvin and cant spell or do math too well. Had great teachers but just a hard head to hinder their job. I have always marveled how those trees make it so close to the Morton Salt water. I caught 3 or 4 Rat Reds about 15-17 " inches or what we called "skillet fish" in the sixties. Had one huge eyetail on for about 60 secs and as soon as it saw me smiling in that boat she spit the hook. I cursed myself and then thanked the lord for an almost close encounter with landing a nice one. Gotta sharpen hooks this afternoon. Then 2 croakers and a small Sheephead and another legalized did the same. I like the torquose-blue-green-clear-water white- water we had this day and the water visibility was at least 18" but maybe it was too pretty. No Gafftop, piggies, or crabs but lots of decent Croakers and I actually started keeping the small skillet sized ones enough for tonites fried fish, baked taters, and garden tomato salad with oil and red vinegar sugar and basil. Croaker filets or imitation speckled trout are hard to beat when fried fish have not been on the table for quite a while. I had a great time and beautiful morning but my ol arse got extremely hot and sweaty and I actually was praying for some breeze. Sorry about that for everyone still out there that can take the heat and humidity but my prayers went unanswered so I went back to Lutes for a cool Dr Pepper. Everyone that can should hit the water as soon as they can!!

Sorry about the long memo but since I retired I have tons of time and this morning it was a better day of my life. Gotta get these hooks a little sharper so the biguns wont spit them out so easily. And the imitation trout was delicious!!"Nobody's so poor that somebody can't get rich screwing 'em."
