Birds saved me from being skunked

Hit or miss but much more prevelant this time of year. I always look for am as I am heading out first thing in the morning. But they can form up any time of the day so keep an eye out for them all the time.

Now this part is gonna sound crazy but I swear over the years it has held true for me. Before you head to a group of birds, look to see what kind they are. Sea Gulls (black head, grey and white bodies) hit the shrimp, and shrimp = fish. Terns on the other hand (white, pointy looking wings in flight) tend to feed on anything on the water. Trash, garbage, etc and most times they are not on fish. Other false sightings are anything near the channel after a barge has passed, a shrimper that has culled his catch lately, and reefs or spoils where the birds sometimes hang out in groups.

Lastly be curtious when fishing birds and don't motor in to close, shut off the engine drop the trolling motor and head in. If everyone does it right more than one boat can fish a group without a problem.

Yep, we call terns liar birds. Good advice on working the birds only thing I will add is go to the upwind side of them otherwise you will never catch up to them. Also if the birds break up continue to fish there for a few minutes. Fish are probably still there.
