  • Could not find them today

Im new to chocolate. I have fished it with kayak but now i am starting to cover more water with my boat. Last week i was able to catch some nice specks on some reefs and my PB flounder (24"). Today was a different story. I fished everywhere and was not able to find any solid fish. My only catch was a Dink trout and a baby flounder. Both hit natural gulp shrimp. I might try somewhere else tomorrow.

      I couldn't find them either...gulps, corky's, assassins, NOTHING.
After switching to the dreaded dead bait, we did manage to catch a mess of sand trout, and I mean a mess of them, at least 40 of them, decent size. They all got to live another day(I catch and release only).
Ol lady is happy she caught fish, so.....I'm happy.

I fished the Bayou and fished from daylight to dark. I ended up with 6 specs 17 to 19 inches and 2 flounder about 18 inches each. Took all day of drifting up and down the bayou to get these keepers. Fished top water ss jr and sea guppy shad all day

Try drifting the shorline at marker 38 on the right side going out. It has had some decent fish on it for the last few days right and daylight and dark. The shorline runs way around back there so there is plenty of area to fish.

            Good luck..

I am going to go with lack of tidal movement. At one spot we fished, I watched a dead fish take about 45 minutes to drift 20 yards. That is slow.

Tides for Alligator Point, West Bay starting with October 22, 2011.
Day High Tide Height Sunrise Moon Time % Moon
                /Low Time Feet Sunset Visible

                Sa 22 High 4:33 AM 1.0 7:26 AM Rise 2:47 AM 31
                22 Low 10:12 AM 0.8 6:44 PM Set 3:43 PM
                22 High 3:10 PM 1.0
                22 Low 9:44 PM 0.4

There was a small outgoing tide predicted between 4:30am and 10:00am. Keep in mind, you also had an opposing 10 mph SSE wind to slow the tide. I joined corndog in his boat and we all know he can find the fish. I threw lures all day and had zero takers. The fish only wanted bait (dead or alive).....and corndog had bait!

We only managed to box 12 Saturday .... but I mostly only hooked shrimp and unhhooked fished ... I was busy with an 18 yr old and an 80 yr old ....

The one thing that was crazy was around 12:30 the light switch fliped on ... and BAM!!! ... every cast ....and in 30 minutes BAM ...it was off .....

It was nuts ..... we had another boat following us...(Relatives) ....they experienced the same thing about 300 yrd away ...

It was very close to the tide turning around and coming back in .... as amatter afact it was just after ...hint hint hint ... who is smelling a secrete of chocolate ...
