A good friend and myself took the boat out this afternoon. Found birds working immeadiatly, not hard but working. Managed a two person limit in a few hours. Released a about twice as many small ones and a few small reds. The birds weren't always working but we redrifted the same areas and the fish were still there. Seemed like they were stacked up in areas where the wind was pushing bait from deep to shallow...according to the depth finder it went from 7 to 2 ft pretty quick. Anyway we kept 20 fish 17"-22"...Dad asked for some fresh fish for his birthday.
Also, FYI...my water pump got clogged up and the engine overheated. My buddy that I was fishing with called a friend and suggested we screw a large water bottle into that water hookup you use to flush the engine and squease hard. Worked like a charm, cleared the water line and we were able to continue fishing...geniuse!!
Great Day with the birds but I will be back in the Kayak for the rest of the week to get back on the reds on the fly.
