4th of July
Yeah, I learned the last time if your out in the boat that fishing gear is manditory. Well that was years ago and today I thought just to run the boat again. So I loaded up two rods one with 6" seashad paddle tail and the other with chartruses paddle tail on a gold spinner blade.
Launched out of Fatboys around 10 am. I though for sure it would have been packed. Not at all. I ran N to swan lake. found some sitting pelicans and shut down up wind from them in hopes to find some trout to top off my boat ride.
Nothing doing there. Headed out towards the dike. Found choppier waters and decieded to work back towards the causeway. Water was a really nice emerald green. Lots of salt in the water but found no slicks or any working birds even out in the midbay reefs.
Half moon was out but not overhead and that was a good reason for no bite. I shot back in towards the crashbasin to mess around at the bridge. Water roaches were out and turned around to hit a reef on S offatts flats. Tide was up about foot above normal so I could drift right over the reef. Found nothing.
Shot into offats bayou. Made a big run in the deep clean waters, took a pic of moody garden and looked at all the fish that was on my laurance. I did not fish it but shot up towards 61st street. I think I found a gold mine and should have stopped. Damn I did not want to end my day this early though. I found a cabana hut that was calling my name. Crap! Trouble a brewing!
Strong willed for today and headed back towards fatboys. I never felt so good to be out on the water just dinking around. I left my girl(boat) in the driveway for tomorrow!
I hope everyone had a great 4th today and enjoyed there freedoms and liberties like me. Swilling some cold beer now and blasting my sterio, LOL!!!!
