Headed east this am and picked up some nice trout here and there for a few hours including 1 that went 7#s on the boga.
Around 10am, headed to the jetties to play. I got to the north jetty and there was beautiful water, a hard incoming and alot of bait. So I worked the tip of the north in about 400 yards on the bolivar side and was having a good time sightcasting to reds, jacks and sheepies up close to the rocks.. This is when a remote minn kota comes in very handy.
Got bored with that, so went over to the south and right on the tip the water was a wall of cownose rays, small redfish and jacks. Played there for a while and headed back home to prepare for an evening trip with a fellow FWE'er and his buddy.
I had easy limits of reds at the jetties, and a limit of trout in east bay. However, I felt no reason to keep any fish today.
We got them on the boat at 530 and headed off in search of water to wade. We got to the first spot and had only walked about 100 yards and we were in cookie cutter 21" reds THICK.. We ended up hitting 18 reds on the first wade.. The fish just kinda vanished , so we got back to the boat and tried another spot to find absolutely NOTHING. Then we worked our way to another spot right before the sun went down and hit 1 1/3 reds lol.. The 1/3 was a TRUE 6" redfish on a spoon lol.
I had easy limits of reds at the jetties, and a limit of trout in east bay. However, I felt no reason to keep any fish today.
After that It was time to go as we didnt have much daylight left.
All in all it was a good day. Headed back east with customers tomorrow and then into west for some redfish action.
