The Weather broke for the Crawfish Boil and got even better on Sunday. I had other plans but what the heck - the bay was calling. Surveyed some of the bay to start then hit a few spots. I worked one set of birds near SLP that were having a real party. It was a big school of about 3 1/2 lb bay tarpon (ladyfish) that were tearing into the Corky I was throwing. I was getting hooked up every cast. Usually I might complain but it was a hoot to just have those things just slam the Corky, breach the water and fight like hell. I could have caught a hundred of them but wanted to do some real fishing after about 15 minutes of that fun. However, there had been no trout action, no bait and no slicks till I hit my third spot. The high tide was ebbing about this time and the water on the south shoreline was looking like someone turned on the mud fan but still good enough to see about three feet. I was wading as usual and wound up on a grassy point in about 2 1/2 feet of water where I hooked into twin sisters about 15 minutes apart that weighed 4.5 lbs each. I was throwing my favorite - a plumtruse Saltwater Assasin. Lots of bait around but the sisters were the only trout that came through. A flounder in water that was about 6 inches deep on the same point rounded out the day for me. SLP is slowly turning on. The bigger sizes are preceding the bigger numbers. Very nice. Pics attached.
