Started out this morning in Halls Bayou -- there was bait everywhere! picked up a few throw-back flounder and headed on out to Chocolate. The water was pretty murky so with the strong incoming tide I figured SLP was the place to be for green water so I headed there. There were tons of mullet around all of the bars and something was running them out of the water. Tried for a while with no luck and headed into Titlum Tatlum to try and catch some of Reeltime and Fuzzy's flounder. The water was beautiful -- I could see the bottom in 6'. Picked up another undersized flounder and caught site of a huge turtle of some sort swimming along the bottom. Stopped off at Blocade Runners and had breakfast with TORQUE and his son and Coach Law ( thanks Sandy!! ) and headed back towards my side of the bay after that. Here's where it gets a bit interesting.... I saw those Mullet again on the way back but this time something was chasing them in about 6' of water in the middle of the bay. I killed the engine and dropped in the trolling motor to get a little closer ... I was standing on the bow casting and driving with my knee on the trolling motor handle when I saw this 4' torpedo coming from the right. Not sure what kind it was but a shark decided to try and eat the prop off my trolling motor... guess that's what was after the mullet.. Just about knocked me out of the boat and scared the crap out of me!!! Never had anything like that happen before. Headed once again toward the house and just before I crossed the channel back into chocolate I caught site of what I thought was a submerged 5 gallon bucket at first --- I slowed down and realized too late that it was a huge triple tail sunning itself. It bolted before I got a chance at it.. Made it back to Hall's and picked up one rat red before we gave up and headed to the ramp. Even though I didn't bring anything home it turned out to be a great day to be on the water!!

Thanks for the report.
Cool stuff to see the tripletail. We saw one behind the pass a few years ago...even had it hooked up, but lost it."If our father had his say, nobody who did not know how to catch a fish would be allowed to disgrace a fish by catching him." Norman Maclean, from A River Runs Through It
