  • West Bay Saturday

Hit the Bay with JimD on Saturday. Drifted around upper west working 4.3 to 6.5 feet of water. Water temps ranged from 47.3 to 49.7 degrees. Most of our trout were caught in 5.1 feet of water off of the Old ICW. The tide was going out. The fish were concentrated to start out with just North of Starvation and moved with the outgoing tide towards Confed. Best bite was inside of the dirty streaks in clear H20. Probably caught 30 trout with 9 being keepers and several questionable 15's and smallers that were thrown back. I also caught 2 nice flounder to 19" in the deeper water. All of the trout I caught were on Plum/Chart Texas Assasains worked very slow on the bottom. Most of the hits were just slurp/inhales. 90 percent of the fish were caught during the major feed.

Thanks for the detailed report. I need to try out that upper bay shell as winter fishing has me a bit discouraged.
