  • New Year started off RIGHT!!!!!!!!

Some of you know that im going to have surgery on my arm monday morning and am gonna be out for atleast 8 weeks. So i wanted to start the new year off right.. and do some catching, not fishing lol

Capt Clint Sholmire and myself made plans to do some fishing today. We left the house around 9 am headed to find some fish. We hit our first spot and caught a few smaller trout and then the bite just kinda fizzled out. So we ran around to a few of our normal spots in west bay and pieced together a few dinks and a few reds.

We ran around checking various spots, hitting a few that we figured had fish and were coming up short.

Clint wanted to do one thing in particular and it didnt work, so we moved on and tried something new to find some reds and ended up catching another red. It was getting later in the afteroon, and clint suggested we make one more stop and try a spot we though was gonna hold fish earlier but it didnt. We set up and made a few casts and they were most definately there this time.

Clint was killing them on a pink corky devil and i was doing fair on a white/brown cocahoe minner.... These fish were acting like they hadnt had a bite to eat in a month lol

We ended up with 20 trout, 2 reds and one flounder.. Most of the trout were 19 to 20" class with the biggest being about 22 1/2. A good way to start the new year off with one of my good friends.

Thanks for a fun trip Clint

Nice. I looked at the flags shredding on the flagpoles and decided to stay in and watch football.

Good luck with the surgery. Hope you get back on the water soon.

Way to repeat! Clint, leave a few of them there so I can catch one or two when i finally get in the boat with you. Thomas, unless you want another surgery, start wearing the sunblock. My life of sun loving is over since doing a nice little round of skin cancer last year and a lovely little outpatient surgery. I'm going to spend two very early hours at a favorite spot tomorrow. Try to get a picture or two, maybe I can find a big one since I sat around all day today.

                              Nice stack of fishes, WTG!

Good Luck on your Surgery, what type of arm surgery? I had Rotator Surgery 5 yrs ago, hope you have a speedy recovery.. Took me almost 3 yrs to get back to full speed.

I'll be having a Left Subclavain bypass in a few weeks myself, very nervous about it. 2-10 don't make it and 6-8 wks recovery if all goes well and no other problems...

                              Good Luck!
