This weekend we ran out of sea isle, as always. It was a hot weekend and a slow one for fishing! Saturday morning I went on a wade around 5:30-7:30 fishing a topwater, it was getting absolutely hammered. I only hooked into one fish, and it got off as it was probably just hangin on the back. Anyways, it got smashed about 15 times, but no hookups? Anyways, I went out with my grandpa later that day with minimal results. The next morning I went for a wade in a back lake on the south shoreline from about 6-8 and I was able to grind out one beautiful 23" red on topwater. Later that day I took my little dargel all the way to the back of Greens and was only able to catch dinks and trash. Anyways, it wasn't the best weekend fishing or weather wise, but the quality time with family and friends on the water made up for it.

Thanks for sharing . If your topwater keeps getting smacked but no hookups , they are slapping it , not interested in biting . Put on a subsurface lure and throw back to the same area and you'll get a hookup . I read that years ago . I had a trout in a little pocket of shell blow my topwater repeatedly in the air at sunset . Remembered what i had read , put on a broken-back . Pitched it out and 2 reels of the handle i had that fish on . Was a nice 25 " trout .GEORGE A. BRANARD, COLOR SERGEANT, CO.
