  • 9/14 West Bay with da Pimp

Needless to say, I awoke 4 times in anticipation of this trip, finally to crawl out of bed at 3:30 to meet Capt Greg at 5:00 at Horseshoe Bend. At 5:30 Myself, Trey my 21 year old son and da Pimp launched and were on our way to West Bay. Our first stop, it was still dark when we bailed out of the boat, throwing tops for awhile but quickly switched to tails that yeilded 5 nice trout. Back in the boat we headed to the north shoreline, lots of bait, but only one trout and Trey caught and undersized red, Greg mentioned with the bull tide these fish were scattered. Back in the boat and off to some reefs in Chocolate, lots of slicks and fish holding over these reefs, we brought 6 nice trout back to the cooler all between 17 and 20 inch fish. Back in the boat headed to the pass and the south shoreline, a short wade due to high west winds and only one taker. We assembled had some lunch visited about life. Greg showed us places he likes to fish around Mud Cut, and Bird Island as we looked for bait, then back to Chocolate, to finish our day, we fished 3 other reefs in Chocolate picking up the rest of our catch. We ended up with 17 Trout and 2 Flounder, lost a few at my hand but only caught one undersized trout.

All in All,Trey and I had a blast, learned so much from the Capt.
If you've never come out of pocket to hire Da Pimp Capt Greg Francis,
you should, it's worth every penny.

    Thanks Capt, Neil and Trey

Stay at his side, throw what he throws, watch how he works his plastics.
I am 48 years old long time bass fisherman, fished salt on an off my whole life. I learned more how to fish and how to Fish West Bay than I expected yesterday. I asked millions of questions, water temp, pressure, winds, baits, what to look for, etc. etc. etc.

Honestly, It is just like what I do for a living as a PGA Member, I teach golf, I can save people hours and hours of endless madness trying to figure out this game. Da Pimp was my Pro yesterday

The corn was my wife contribution to dinner last night, Pasta, cheese, and corn cooked in the oven. It was really good, but the fresh trout and flounder was better.

Yea, I had a great time! The bite was a little tough with these high tides. The fish we did catch were all scattered. Never really got into some steady action. 1 here 1 there kinda bite. The Trout we did catch were caught on plum/char Assassins fishing right over the top of shell reefs. Most of the reefs i have been wading are about ankle to calf deep on top of them, yesterday they were all about waist deep. I'm really ready for the tides to get back to normal! This will bunch the fish up and make them easier to catch.

I had a great time yesterday and look forward to doing it again

I love what I do everyday, but, I'd rather fish than play golf on my days off
