Made my first trip to chocolate bayou Monday with my neighbor Jerry, who is a gunsmith at Gander Mountain. He doesn't get to fish much so he was excited to go. I told him this was my first time fishing this area so don't expect this to be a guide service. He understood that this was going to be a learning exprience for both of us. Launch at the 2004 brige and found out that my running lights weren't working, so ran to that first little island and hung out there till it got light enough to navigate. Once it was light enough we ran to the first reef I found and started there. About my third cast with that ssa I hooked up with about a 5lb trout. While waiting for my deck hand to get the net he broke off at the boat. Oh boy i said we are gonna be on em. I think I spoke to soon because he didn't have any friends with him. We made out way from reef to reef picking up 1 here and there untill that east wind picked up. Ran to New bayou to get out of the wind and picked up a few in there on a gold spoon. It looked like everybody else was thinking the same thing cause about 10 min later 4 more boats showed up to join us. The tide was supposed to start falling around 8:00 when we left around noon the tide was still coming in. Don't think i read the chart wrong, go figure. On the way back we stopped at another reef and pick up a 20in red. All in all it was a beautifull day, i learned some new spots with a good friend and went home with 3 trout and a red.

Not a bad first Chocolate trip! Congrats on the catch. I usually add about 3 to 4 hours to the tidal times for Chocolate depending on where in Chocolate I'm at.
