Tough bite today seemed like at least for me. Started in a south shore cove at 6:45 am...nice conditions...throwing bone color top water. One small blow up in the first hour and that was it. Switched to plastic Norton Bull Minnows in pumpkin seed and scraped up one 15" spec...another drift...nada...next one had a throwback spec and on my way out the cove hooked a rat red going 18". Kind of surprised that was it. Headed across to a place that generally HasNoFish in it...decided to simply run along shorelines looking for reds...came across a few tearing it up deep in the grass...got as close as I could and worked the edge of grass trying to get them out and managed a real nice red going 26". Hooked one other throwback red and decided that was it for me...in by 11:00 ish. Half shell for dinner a noche.
BTW at the cleaning table saw a fella with a bull red looking a little under 40"...he said it was in the surf between the 2& 3rd bar on cut bait. So for you surf nuts they be out there.
