  • 13th and 14th Report

Been a while since I could post up anything worthwhile. Went out Friday am to a south shore cove around 6:00 am. Only boat out there. Not much wind but enough to drift nice and slow. Tied on bone colored Gun Dog. Picked up a 20" spec and a 17" off my first drift. Second drift produced a throw back and a rat red. By that time it was 7:30ish and the trout bite seemed to really disappear for some reason. Grabbed a paddle tail and went skinny to find some reds. They were in there but all were 18"ish. Went to the north shore to look around. Saw one boat over there in the area I wanted to fish so moved east. Had to chuckle as a another boat with four real loud guys didn't seem to care that he was wading that area as they puttered in, dropped anchor, and started chucking. Anyway, saw some bait being hit and slowly worked over there and started catching small trout and another small red. Well I guess that boat saw me catching because here they came. They anchored up where I catching them and drifted away from. Didn't bother me too much as the storms were coming to the north now so the wader and I both headed in. Just a few minutes later you could no longer SEE them as they were engulfed! HA! Headed in by 10 with those three specs, threw back a couple, and caught and released 7 reds all of them at that 18" range.

Saturday morning was STILL. Started the same way and produced a couple of blow ups but that was it as far as the trout. Storms were all around me so ran to the north shore. Picked up another keeper red and a couple trout with one going 16". Lightening was popping so I decided not to stick around and made the right choice by heading in.
