Got down to the island on Thursday afternoon to wind that was blowing harder and more from the west than I was expecting. Jumped in the Cat and quickly ran to Snake Isle Cove. Tied on a paddle tail in pumpkin seed and started drifting. A few casts in hooked up with a small red and that was to get repeated four more times...once I drifted to the geo tube I caught a nice flattie that nearly went 22". Friday am I was on the water by 6:00. Went across the bay up into Halls to see what was happening up there. Real dirty water and again the wind. Managed to catch and box a 21" red and a 16" trout before moving on. Went to look at the water behind the pass...much better but crowded as all get out. Said that was enough of that garbage and headed in...figured I'd hit Snake Isle real quick as I keep the boat at Sea Isle and glad I did as the small reds were in the same place as before. Caught and released five and also managed to pick up another trout that got boxed. Sat morning out early again...again in Snake Isle Cove. Hopped out of the boat and waded about fifty yards where the current looked to be moving better. Tied on a bone spook. About the fifth cast had a blow up. Let it sit still and she came right back at it. Nice 21" trout. Started catching nothing but those rats again so decided to check out some of the back lakes along with roughly 4,728 other boats! It was ridiculous how many were out there. Saw one spot in the wind protected area that no boats and a slight incoming tide. Got right up on shore and started drifting and found two good reds going 22" and 24"...good solid fish. Started jacking around in the marsh as the water was so high, fishing some, sticking the boat some, and having a good time. Managed one more trout while back there and saw some new water. Went in. This morning nearly all the boats were gone but with the wind blowing pretty good and Snake Isle filled with rats decided to hit Maggies Cove...nada. Next up was Bird Island Cove...Nothing. Made it to Jumbile and the back looked real pretty...held lots of bait too...throwing that paddle tail produced four flounder. Had my fifth and lost it at the boat. Headed in. Have to hit my spot in Snake Isle before putting the Cat away of course...a few casts and lost another flattie and boxed one last trout.
Each day I was on the water early and off the water by 10:30...lots of fish with a few keepers. Fried up some Sat Night so momma's happy and gonna have half shelled redfish from Greens either tonight or tomorrow.
