Decided to fish the south shoreline of West Galveston Bay this morning to see what was going on. I haven't been out there since the fall of last year.
Launched around 6:30 AM and paddled out about a mile to a oyster reef. The tide was very high when I arrived and gave me difficulties locating the reef. Luckily, I managed to find it from blind casting. The tide remained high all day and I'm not even sure the there was any tidal movement during the day. Ended up catching 9 speckled trout (16"-23") and 1 lower slot red directly over the shell, and caught and released 6 flounder (14"-19") along the shell to sand transition of the reef.
Water Depth: 2-4 feet
Water Clarity: 6 inches
Structure: Shell/sand
Lure: Trout/Reds - Popping cork rigged with Gulp shrimp in new penny; Flounder - H&H red/white curly tail grub tipped w/ Gulp pearl white pogy, rigged on a 1/4 oz jighead
Happy Easter!
