Me and Jhua finally found a night that worked for our schedules for us to go out and finally let him get a taste of good night fishing. We decided to fish lights that where new to me but we caught on quick. The first light we hit ended in my drag screaming and my yak getting a little tow just to end with a spit hook. These new lights looked promising.... We continued fishing into the night.By 5 in the morning I had finished off my second limit while J still had a skunk... thats what trash talking gets ya!
We pulled up to a light that I didnt find to promising so I sat back and let J give it a whirl. That light turned out to give him some flatties a solid missed red and some good hits. We headed back in and I was in bed by 7.... This is when i remembered I had made plans to meet a friend for a trip that morning and I am not one to pass on a good fishing oppurtunity. I took a quick power nap and was back on the water at 11 just in time to meet my buddy and have him inform me that I just missed the speck bite. With the lack of fish we went ahead and just explored the area until he had to leave. Thats when i got to work. I pulled up to a reef and quickly pulled in 2 18 inch flatties. The lack of specks lead me to end up in some of my favorite flounder holes. In a matter of 15 minutes I had 3 more flatties. I decided I didnt want to fish the holes out so I headed over to some flats for specks. I saw lots of active bait but nothing would touch my hackberry so I tied on a rattle trap and managed 3 specks. After awhile with no more hits I went to some other holes to find some more flatties. This choice paid off with 5 more flatties varying from 14-16 inches. I called it a day once I finished off my second flattie limit. Night fishing was any glow paddle tail on 1/8 ounce. Flounder where all caught on ghost shrimp gulp on 1/4 ounce. and specks on chrome and black rattle traps. Finally tally was 6 keeper reds and countless rats 10 keeper flatties and 3 specks. Tight Lines!
