  • 26" Topwater Trout

Went out with a couple of girlfriends prefishing for our Texas Lady Angler tournament Saturday. Started out drifting some West Bay reefs. Caught this really fat 26" trout on a Skitterwalk. My first big trout on a topwater and it jumped totally out of the water -- way Cool! Photographed and released. I think this was my personal best. I've caught a 26" before but it wasn't near as fat. This one must have been 7 lbs. or so but I didn't take the time to weigh it. Also caught a nice fat 22" in a back lake but it was gut hooked so she had to become my friends dinner.

Way to go! Once you catch 'em on topwaters it's hard to go back!

It was a redfish pattern Skitterwalk which is basically white on the bottom. I catch Redfish on topwaters and that's a blast -- love those big blowups. It's addicting.
