I've been trapped in an educationese workshop for two days getting in touch with my inner-biatch and one more day tomorrow. We got out a little early and man I needed to relax, so I was in the water wading by 4:15. The tide was low and still ripping out. The water temp is 71 degrees and visibility about a foot.
I started throwing a Corky Devil because it was already on the line, and had maybe one bump. Next I threw a bone SS jr. and nada. Then I tried several plastics. At 6:00 I was throwing a bone Shepup and caught the first trout. between then and 7:00 I caught seven more. Every fish was alike, all 3#s and fiesty. The bite was unusual because the were slashing at the lure instead of blowing up. A start and stop, slow retrieve worked best. Also fishing crosswind parallel with the waves.
