Met up with imhammer at 5:30ish this morning at Sea Isle Marina. We left out of there and made our way across the bay to hit some elusive Chocolate Bay reefs...never found them BUT it was dark. There was a tremendous amount of bait around so we started chuckin' and Chip had a real nice blow up but couldn't keep him on. He wound up bringing one in for the box. He was fishing tops pretty much the entire time and I started on tops and went to plastic.
From there we started working east down the north shoreline...seeing bait in spots. Made one stop where we both missed a couple and then headed further down. Hopped out here and made a good wade. Water was clear and holding just tons of bait...looked real promising. Chip had a blow up and then I hooked a trout only to lose him right at the net...dang! We each had a few more blow ups but mostly these were smaller fish. Time to move.
Headed back into Greens and Chip showed me a spot he likes. I liked it too as I caught and boxed one trout and had another to throw back. Weather started to come in with a STRONG north east wind. Strange to be out there fishing in mid August and not sweating at all! We got rained on but with this drought how can anyone complain right? Went around to another spot in Greens and had a few misses and I missed one flattie...stayed on the same area and five minutes later I had him in the boat.
All in all had a great time back on the water and getting to know Chip. Look forward to fishing again with you soon. Fishing was slow but neither of us have been out there in a while and we both feel slow is better than no.
