The flounder are biting pretty good in the Galveston Ship Channel right now. I have been catching some solid fish. The quantity and quality have definitely increased from the past couple weeks.
Launched my kayak around 7:00 AM and quickly paddled across the ship channel to my honey holes before the incoming tide started ripping in. The tide remained low until about 9:00 AM. The bite turned on for the first hour of the incoming tide although I did catch a couple before the tide change. Ended up retaining a limit of flounder and CPR'd a few more before calling it quits around 11:00 AM. Most of the fish ranged from 18-20 inches.
Water Depth: Heavy structure to mud transitions with drop offs from 2 to 7 feet
Water Clarity: 2 feet
Structure: Along rip rap, between pilings, and around mooring dolphins
Lure: H&H curly tail grubs (red/white and chartreuse) tipped w/ Gulp pearl white pogys, rigged on a 1/4 oz jighead
Below are a few pics I took from today. Enjoy.
