Started off this morning early set out the yak and went a couple miles from the launch to meet up with a buddy at a spot thats been productive lately. As I found my rhythm pumping the mirage drive I looked around to see dark clouds in the distance. I ignored the clouds and continued on. As soon as I reached the spot and met up with my buddy our talk of the game plan for the day was interupted by some of the most ominous clouds I have seen in awhile. We booked it on over to a bridge a half mile away. As we arrived at the bridge all hell broke loose lightning struck all around followed shortly by loud booms of thunder and a downpour of rain. We took shelter under a bridge for just over an hour then snuck out and chased some reds busting bait by the bridge. 5 minutes into fishing another storm cell came through. We quickly rushed back to the bridge. Finally the lightning stopped so we went out through the rain to a dropoff that he did well on yesterday. My first cast ended with a 15 inch flattie. I quickly released him and got my bait back on the bottom. The bait was immediatly greated by a 19 inch flattie which was soon to be flopping in my net. I pulled up a couple more just over 14 inches then moved farther down the dropoff. I snagged another flattie and a healthy red. Soon after that the rain got even worse so we went ahead and called it. All fish caught bumpin the bottom with new penny gulp on 1/4 ounce.

Sounds like an exciting trip. That is why I went out last night instead of fishing tomorrow like I usually do.

Nice report, nice catching considering the conditions.
