Uber and I went out at around 4ish for a quick fish. Found a favorable flat with some bait and set up on a drift. I was using a hackberry while uber went with a black spook to go with the dark clouds. Mid-drift, the spook disappeared and...FISH ON! Uber pulled up a 22in fat speck. Then the birds popped up in front of us and we started the chase. Had a trout fly out of the water to chase my white/ chartreuse spook jr. We were in the zone. Uber made a cast. I waited so we didn't cross lines. Then...WHUMP! Uber's spook hits a gull and he almost crashes to the water. Amazingly, the gull didn't get hooked! My initial reaction was "poor bird...," but it was absolutely funny! Uber ended up with 3 trout between 18-22. All of them fat. I ended up with 1 at around 18ish.

We fished with mainly tops...it got dark a lot earlier than we expected so we didn't have too much time on our hands. Jhua got a nice trout on a hackberry and multiple blow-ups but no takers some days go that way I've been on the other side of the fence my fair share. Black spook was definitely the bait today just because the cloud cover and dirty water. Hackberry was a close second and red/white mirrolure 3rd. I nailed that bird with the black spook lmao he let out a lil screech, he's lucky to have not been on my dinner plate because if i would have hooked him he's goin in the cooler...mmm fried seagull mouth watering just thinkin bout it. Highlight of the day was seein Buoy out there he called to say hey and was 100 feet away from me lol.
I set my hook like I am fishing for tuna even if I am fishing for trout. Call me tuna Joe!
