Pickin' Strawberries
Did my annual Port A scuba trip with some old dive buddies from Austin in mid-October. I was a bit dissapointed, no ling or mangroves around. In fact, it was pretty barren with mostly just big cudas around the rigs. I shot a few large cudas for the future in-laws (they prefer it over snapper... easy brownie points!) on the first dive. Second dive was still only cudas, so I shot one and took it to the boat and exchanged the big gun for the little gun. For the rest of that dive and one after that, I targeted strawberry grouper on the rig legs. Scaled, gutted, and fried up... I may have had better fish but I really can't remember when.
