Beware of ray guards! I was hit through the ray guards 2 years ago! I was wearing the calf high shin guards and it went through. It probably would have been worse without them, but those boots are not 100% fail proof.

I have something like that on my knee, was a kid with sister racing in the surf, I knelt down, thought I found a beer bottle, dad
said Nope, you knelt on the tail of a ray and when it swam off it cut you like a razor.
Wife got a small jab few summers ago and the hot water was the trick. Hope you get well soon
